Support the group making a real difference to Eastbourne Seafront
Welcome to Friends of Eastbourne Seafront
Our vision is to see an improved seafront, campaigning for change and to see the Bandstand
and Redoubt Fortress restored and reopened, working in practical ways to make a difference.

The Story of Friends of Eastbourne Seafront
Eastbourne's seafront — a Victorian pier, a historic bandstand, and a Napoleonic fortress standing guard over the coast. But behind the postcard views, this seafront has faced years of closures and neglect. This short documentary tells the story of the residents who refused to look away. What began in 2021 as a small campaign to save the town's closed bandstand grew into Friends of Eastbourne Seafront — a not-for-profit organisation run entirely by volunteers, dedicated to protecting and improving the seafront for everyone who loves it. From restoring the bandstand and reopening the Redoubt Fortress, to building a children's cycle track and fitness trail, to the teams who welcome visitors, tend the gardens, and keep the beach clean — this is a story of community, care, and what people can achieve when they decide to look after their own. In June 2026, their work was recognised with the Heart of the Community Award at the Eastbourne Community Awards.
The mission continues!
