The Gardening Team

History - the team first started with just a few FOES members when they took on weeding the Bandstand flower beds in July 2023, which were in a terrible state. This was quickly followed with the team weeding and replanting the RNLI beds. Since then, the team has grown to over twenty members and is still growing. We would love you to join us if you too would like to see the seafront beds and borders restored to what they should be.

The gardening sessions are held weekly throughout the year, weather permitting, for about two hours, on Friday mornings and Wednesday afternoons. You don't have to come every week but we would like a reasonable commitment. There may also be one off sessions, or other sessions for certain areas.

We currently look after the Bandstand, the RNLI beds, the World's Garden, the Splashpoint boat and the Children's' Cycle Track (which was established by FOES). We are also working our way along the seafront promenade to restore the raised beds and sloping rockeries at the back of the Western Lawns, and also other areas both to the east and west of the pier.

What do you need to bring? Gardening gloves, a hand trowel or fork and secateurs.
