Friends of Eastbourne Seafront are committed to campaigning to ensure that Eastbourne's seafront is restored and maintained to the highest standard and that the assets along the seafront are open, accessible and affordable.

We ran the successful Save the Seafront Public Toilets campaign. To save money the Council wanted to close the seafront toilets, so we ran a campaign to make them change their mind and they did. Campaigning costs money for printing flyers and banners; renting rooms for meetings; paying for this website; public liability insurance; data protection licences; general stationery etc. The list goes on and on.

Our Welcome Teams of volunteer seafront guides was set up in 2023. These people are out and about along the seafront, 7 days per week between 10am and 4pm, welcoming visitors and locals, answering questions and giving out our free publications - the Welcome guide, the map and the Seafront Trail.

Our Gardening Team of volunteers started looking after the gardens  at the Bandstand and by the Lifeboat museum and Shop. They have been tidying up the gardens by the Western Lawns and have just started on the World’s Garden. Many visitors and locals comment on what an improvement the team’s hard work has brought.

Contrary to popular belief we are not funded by the Council, any other organistation nor any political party. We rely on membership, fundraising, donations and sponsorship to carry out our work.

New for 2025 was the Membership Discount Card. We have explained above what we do with the money we raise, but we also liked to offer you something for your support. The card offered a small discount at a variety of seafront shops, cafés, restaurants and services.  We are currently updating our Discount Card and will notify you about participating businesses shortly.

We need financial support to carry on campaigning. You can help by subscribing or renewing your membership. Membership is for an individual or for a business and is valid for a year from date of joining. The easiest way to join is through our website, via Membermojo, by clicking the relevant image below. To renew, you do not require a password. Just type your email, and then click "Sign in with email" and you will receive an email with a link to your membership.
